Loving V. Virginia

I am Thankful for Loving V. Virginia!

If you have not watched the movie, “LOVING” [in theatres NOW], PLEASE GO TONIGHT! I repeat, if you have not watched the INCREDIBLE, HEART WRENCHING movie Loving, please go see it tonight!

I am thankful that I was able to witness such an incredible story.

'Tis the week of giving THANKS! If you babes follow us on Instagram @BLUHAZL you know that my sisters from another mista were in town, Lauren [our trainer] and Codie [our holistic guru] and our Saturday night consisted of a bff's movie night as we witnessed one of my [new] favorite movies, “Loving.”

To sum it up, Loving is a historic drama based on a 1960s interracial couple [the Lovings married in 1958] that grew up in Virginia. Loving celebrates the courage, trials and tribulations,  and endless commitment of an interracial marriage. All I can say is, because of the Loving family, the Supreme Court passed the law, Loving V. Virginia in 1967 allowing interracial marriage, giving interracial couples a right to marry. YES, one white man and one black woman fought for their love, for their freedom, and most importantly for our entire nation. Loving is one of the most beautiful movies I’ve ever watched. The cast was impeccable and the story was told in such a heartfelt way you could feel the emotion through the character’s silence. In that moment, as the movie ended, I finally understood the power of TRUE LOVE.

Furthermore, I am forever thankful for the Loving family because if it wasn’t for them I wonder if I would be here today? Proudly, I am the creation of a black man and white woman. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Loving, THANK YOU! [WOW!] I still can’t fathom how impactful the life of the Loving's family has shaped our modern day world. Look around you? Look at how many beautiful interracial marriages there are today. Observe how many humans see pass the color of one's skin, and see the beauty of another’s soul. [The world needs more of this!] For that, I am forever thankful for the love the LOVINGS shared.

THREE THINGS 'LOVING' TAUGHT ME: true love, relentless faith, and to fight for what you believe in.

In the end, I still can’t wrap my head around the love, passion, and faith Mildred and Richard Loving shared, but I can only dream to one day experience that RARE, forever-EVER type of love.

Cheers to the Loving family, we are forever THANKFUL for you!
