It's true what they say; the older you get, the wiser you become. I found this meme this morning scrolling through old images, and it spoke volumes to me. " Girls compete with each other. Women empower one another." Can I get an AMEN?!

As I mentioned above, the older I have gotten this quote has reasonated with me more and more everyday. Being a woman we have all dealt with envy, jealousy or some sort of hate in our lives from other women. But for what exactly? As I look back at my youth, I was often judged or mistaken to be the "pretty girl that can play sports," but I always knew I was more than that. But because of the way I looked girls tended to compete with me more. I can remember vividly coming home one day telling my dad about a girl at school who wanted to fight me (yes fight me) because I was talking to a boy she liked. So my dad, being my dad, took out the boxing gloves and taught me how to throw a punch. It was then, I knew that girls would always be catty just because. I was so confused and I can still remember my dad making me learn how to fight, as tears rolled down my eyes (I'm a lover, not a figher). Girl, competition is real.

Competition is not only physical though, nowadays it's all social and online. Nowadays girls compete on social media by bullying and leaving harsh commenting. Again, pay attention to when I say GIRLS because there is a big divide amongst GIRLS and WOMEN. Often people have way too much free time on their hands and have nothing better to do but to bully and hate on you using their"twitter fingers." I've learned that the trolls ( aka the haters) are simply just envious of your lifestyle, your beauty and your success. These type of girls are jealous so they try to compete with you, but you and I both know, there's NO competition. Again, this goes back to knowing who you are, your worth and your focus and that NOBODY can bring you down because you're one hek of a woman.

On the other hand, when you see WOMEN empowering WOMEN we know that there is growth. Can I get a handclap? Women who have been through different experiences become wiser, and often times knows how to appreciate another woman and not feel threatened by another. Why not unite to create #womanpower? Why not empower the next woman? This is what our society needs to shift to. Girls need to learn how to respect each other in order to grow from one another. We must learn to appreciate another girl's talent and beauty and empower each other to be the best we can be. You will grown from a girl to a woman, and once you do you will realize there was never any reason for catty competition. Remember, WOMEN empower one another because they've learned there's no reason to compete. Respect, self love, and appreciation are all key characterists women who empower other women attain. Learn from those women, and not from those other girls.
